Down and Up

Sometimes things don't go so well. Anderson had picked up his probably second-worst illness so far last Wednesday night. Two-and-a-half days of high fever, inability to sleep, lack of appetite, and lots of drooling courtesy of a viral infection that severely attacked his throat. He was supposed to have his 12-month well check on Friday, but since he was still a having fever, it turned into a regular doctor's office visit.
Guess what the doctor's prescription for Anderson was? Ice cream and popsicles.
  1. High density of calories to give him some energy as he seemed to be losing weight by the minute.
  2. Soothe the throat with the icy substance.
The plan was good, but instead of the half-gallon of ice cream we hoped he would consume he only ate a couple of small bowls. Obviously he still has a lot of things to learn.

Fast forward a couple of days and things were looking up again. He's been making up for missed meals by eating huge amounts of food and drinking large amounts of milk. He currently sleeps through the night so deeply that we have to wake him up in the morning. Not only that, he also seems to have made a leap in development.
  • Yesterday he fed himself dinner (who could say no to chicken nuggets)
  • Today he walked along the wall at daycare (whereas he has been holding on to items more tightly while taking steps)
We're glad things have been getting better. (Pleasant) trouble is ahead when the walking begins!
